Fall Refresh 2024

It’s almost fall, y’all, which means time to swap out your fading summer blooms for amber mums, pretty pansies, and perhaps some ornamental cabbage if you’re feeling abundantly decorative. And while you’re at it, might I suggest picking up some festively fall indoor plants, too, like Prince of Orange philodendrons and ruby striped crontons?
For me, refreshing my potted plants both indoors and out signifies the passage of time, yet also reminds me to remain present in the current season. That said, I had to sneak in one final hug with my summer flowers before they say goodbye.
Here are some of my favorite garden centers around Chicago for harvesttime plantables and houseplants:
Gethsemane on the North Side, @gethsemanegardencenter
Sprout Home in Wicker Park, @sprouthomechicago
CityEscape on the West Side, @cityescape_chicago
Christy Webber in West Town, @cwfarmngarden
Happy planting!
